How Do We Repair The Driveway?

  • We excavate 8 inches and fill 4 inches with compacted base. The 4 inches of the compacted base allows for proper drainage and prevents water damage.
  • We then lay a cross pattern of ½ inch rebar every 12 inches, which are tied together with wire. At each intersection, a 1-inch square “Dobie” is set under the cross section to keep the rebar above ground level. This allows the rebar to “float” within the concrete.
  • The heavy, wet concrete is poured. Rebar holds the concrete together and prevents separation.
  • After the concrete is poured, the driveway is scored at patterned intervals to help reduce and contain normal cracking of the concrete.
