THE COMMUNITY OF ROLLING HILLS

Rolling Hills was originally part of the Rancho San Pedro and the Rancho de los Palos Verdes located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The land was acquired by a group of investors in the early 1900's. In 1922, one of these investors, Frank Vandelip, sold off several thousand acres which became the City of Palos Verdes Estates. However, he kept 13,000 acres, some of which became the gated city of Rolling Hills in 1957. Rolling Hills has retained a "ranch-like" quality to its residences, many of which have been designed and built to house and board horses. The community boasts an extensive system of riding trails and is very committed to maintaining the beauty of the natural surrounding and its wildlife.
