SAN MARINO BRICK RESTORATION
SAN MARINO BRICK PROJECTS
Located in the beautiful San Rafael Hills is the picturesque city of San Marino. It has the distinction of being a "residential" city, combining upscale residences with beautiful gardens and wide tree-lined streets. While many of San Marino's homes are reflective of California's Spanish-style architecture, some of its neighborhoods include homes that are more Georgian or reminiscent of the "antebellum" architecture found in the southern part of the United States.
The contractors of Boston Brick and Stone understand the importance of maintaining and preserving the unique architectural integrity which has come to be expected in San Marino. Founded over twenty years ago, this family-owned business, located in neighboring Pasadena, has a top-notch staff of contractors who are experts in brick repair and restoration. Boston Brick and Stone has repaired and restored brick and stone structures throughout the Los Angeles area and can provide an extensive portfolio of successful restoration projects.
THE CITY OF SAN MARINO, CA
The city of San Marino was named after Italy's Republic of San Marino, one of the world's oldest surviving republics. The city was originally home to the Tongva Indians and subsequently became part of the Mission San Gabriel which was founded in 1777. Eventually, a portion of the land became the property of James Shorb who bestowed the name "San Marino" upon it. In the early 1900's Henry Huntington acquired the land from Shorb and merged it with several ranchos in the area to create the town of San Marino.
Today San Marino plays a prominent role in the movie and TV industry as a favored location site because of its unique blend of East and West Coast architecture. The films "Father of the Bride" and "Carbon Copy" as well as the TV series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "The West Wing" were filmed in and around San Marino.
The first mayor of San Marino was General George S. Patton, Sr., father of the highly-decorated WW II commander, General George S Patton, Jr. San Marino landmarks include the Huntington Library and Gardens, The Edwin Hubble House, and the Old Grist Mill, once part of Mission San Gabriel and the oldest commercial building in Southern California.
